After completing a degree in electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen, Carsten Münch began his energy-sector career in 1998 at the same time as the liberalisation of the German energy market. He has since held positions at international energy companies in London, Frankfurt, Essen, Amsterdam, Zurich and Düsseldorf. Initially active in energy trading, he later focused on origination for electricity, natural gas, coal and cross-commodity products. In asset development, he managed power-plant and gas-storage projects for Nuon. Most recently, he spent almost ten years as Managing Director of Axpo Deutschland. Since 2023, he has served as Managing Director of EWE TRADING GmbH, with responsibility for Market operations.
Following a doctorate in economics, mathematician Dr. Thomas Rupp entered the energy sector in 2009. His first position was as a specialist at EnBW in the interface between sales and trading, with a focus on pricing and valuation. From 2011, he helped establish the newly founded Total Energie Gas, where he developed risk management, pricing and IT functions and went on to lead several departments. In 2018, he joined EWE TRADING GmbH as Director of Risk Management, responsible for market, credit and liquidity risks as well as contract management. Dr Rupp was appointed Managing Director in 2022 and is responsible for Market Support.
